SEO for Blogs
Here are the steps we use to maximize SEO for Blogs. By using a separate Third Party Blog website to promote your existing business or organizational website, you are putting SEO “best practices” into place for legitimate traffic building for a WordPress blog.
But did you know that you also improve the search engine rankings (Alexa, Compete and Google Page Rank) of your existing website because of the success of your business blog? We have an existing client that has a 2 month old Third Party Blog with excellent traffic, a Google #2, and #3 position for their two primary key phrases and has dropped their Alexa ranking from nearly 5,000,000 to 1,500,000 in 60 days just from the blog pass through traffic!
Basic SEO For Blogs – Steps
Use WordPress
First, WordPress is amazing for SEO. Matt Cutts from Google says that it is 70% optimized for Google searches in its default installed form. However, it is our opinion that this is a non-linear scale. The last 30% takes knowledge, experience and trial and error.
Use SEO Plugins
There are many plugins that will assist you in optimizing your WordPress blog for search. While we are not going to give you our “magic” list, just go to Plugin in the WordPress admin and search by SEO or Google. You will get the idea. Develop your own settings that work best in your blogs. OK, use All In One SEO Pack, one of the most popular plugins for WordPress ever. But there are many more to investigate.
Host in a Good Place
Where you host your blog is important. When search engine bots spider your blog, downtime is a killer. If they can not find your blog, they start factoring “server unavailable” into future visit frequency calculations. Also, if you are hosted on a shared server that does not have strict security rules, your website could be very slow or email server blacklisted because of questionable use by others. Also, many hosts offer very low prices and big promises, but oversell each shared server so blog performance (page loads etc.) suffers. Here is a host that offers business class blog hosting starting at $4.95 per month!
Do Keyword Research
Before you create content, find out what people are searching for. If write awesome content, but no one searches for it, no one will see it. Use good keywords in your titles and content.
Promote – Promote
Promote your blog posts in the usual places. Twitter, Facebook, social bookmark sites, press releases, other blog commenting.
Analyze and Adjust
Use good analytic tools like Google analytics or Woopra real time analytics. Find out what posts and promotional efforts are getting traffic. Check time on site and geographical data. Make adjustments. Post more. Always be analyzing.
We Will Do It All For You
Of course, Third Party Blogs will do ALL OF THIS for you. So you can run your business. We will build, write and manage your blog so you get the traffic you desire and opportunity to convert traffic into revenue.
